Tour Flow
Here is the typical flow of our Zen meditation experience at Jusho-in Temple. The order and timing may vary slightly depending on the day.

Your guide will meet you at Myoshinji North Gate.
As you walk through the temple grounds to Jusho-in, your guide will introduce Myoshinji and give you a brief overview of the experience.
After arriving at Jusho-in, take a moment to settle in and make yourself comfortable.
A cup of welcome tea will be served as you ease into the quiet atmosphere of the temple.

The head priest will introduce the basic ideas of Zen and explain how to practice zazen, including posture, breathing, and where to direct your attention.
English interpretation will be provided throughout the explanation.
Put the guidance into practice during your first zazen session, lasting approximately 15 minutes.
Cushions and chairs are available for anyone who finds sitting on the floor uncomfortable.

Take a 5–10 minute break between the two sessions. You are welcome to ask the head priest questions, share what you noticed during zazen, or simply rest quietly.
Return to zazen for a slightly longer second session, lasting approximately 15–20 minutes. After the first sitting, you may notice subtle changes in your posture, breathing, or sense of time.

After the second session, relax with a bowl of matcha and a seasonal wagashi, a traditional Japanese sweet.
In the calm that follows meditation, take time to notice their flavors, aromas, and textures.

To close the experience, take some time to reflect and enjoy a final conversation with the head priest and our staff. Weather permitting, you can relax on the engawa veranda while overlooking the temple garden.
Before you leave, you can also browse a small selection of tea, incense, orin bells, and other items connected to the experience.
