Tour Flow

The flow after application is as follows.
The following is the typical flow of our Zen meditation experience at Jusou-in Temple.
*Please note that the itinerary may vary depending on your selected tour.

STEP
Meeting at Myoshinji North Gate

Your guide will meet you at the Myoshinji North Gate(妙心寺北門). We’ll begin with a brief introduction to the the rich history of the temple and the day’s schedule.

STEP
Welcome Tea at Jushou-in Sub Temple

We step into Jushou-in(壽聖院), a sub-temple with over 400 years of history. In this tranquil space, enjoy a cup of tea.

STEP
Zen Meditation Session I

The first session will be 10-15 min. Before the session, the abbot will guide you through proper posture and breathing.

Chairs and cushions are available if you find sitting on the floor difficult.

STEP
A Moment for Rest and Dialogue

Take a relaxed break for Q&A between sessions. This is a time to share your thoughts or ask questions in a warm atmosphere with the abbot.

STEP
Zen Meditation Session II

Enter the second session with a body and mind already softened by the first. You may find yourself drifting into an even deeper silence, discovering a sense of clarity different from before.

STEP
Enjoy green tea and seasonal Japanese sweets

After your Zen meditation, enjoy a relaxing break with a bowl of matcha and a seasonal wagashi (Japanese sweet). This matcha, freshly ground using a traditional stone mill, is characterized by its exceptionally mellow flavor and rich depth.

STEP
Reflections on the Engawa & Farewell

Finally, relax on the engawa veranda overlooking the beautiful garden for a final Q&A.
